The primary goal of our office is to prevent dental caries (decay) and periodontal (gum) disease. The way to prevent this is through good oral hygiene home care and regular dental exams and cleanings. Most patients are recommended to have a cleaning and exam every six months and Xrays every year.

Dental Exams

The dental examination consists of the dentist checking the oral cavity or mouth for signs of disease. This involves examining all teeth for dental decay, existing restorations and crowns for recurrent decay, and checking the health of the bone and oral tissues. During the appointment the doctor will also perform an oral cancer screening and TMJ exam.

Dental Cleaning

Cleaning involves the dental hygienist removing plaque and calculus form the tooth surface to maintain healthy gums and prevent tooth decay. During the cleaning the hygienist will also floss and polish each tooth. Children will also receive a dental fluoride treatment which helps strengthen the teeth.

Digital Xrays

We have the newest technology in digital Xrays which is essential in helping us diagnosis dental decay, bone loss, cysts, tumors, and other oral abnormalities. Xrays help the dentist diagnose decay in between teeth and below the gum line at an earlier stage. With Xrays we are able to treat and stop small cavities before they become major problems.

Sealants are a preventative coating that is brushed on by the dentist or hygienist to cover deep grooves on the tooth surface that are prone to plaque accumulation. By doing so we are able to have a preventative cover that is easy to clean and non invasive to the tooth structure.
